Two adult tigers got engaged in a fight in the Jilin Siberian Tiger Park in Changchun, Jilin province, on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one tiger, said a report by Jimu News, a media outlet based in Hubei province.

Park authorities said that they had attempted to separate the two tigers by using firecrackers, but the efforts were unsuccessful. The tiger that killed its companion has been isolated.

A video circulating online shows a tiger lying on the ground, presumed dead, while another tiger runs around in the distance. A man can be seen observing the situation from outside the enclosure.

The video uploader claimed that on Wednesday, inside the park, a tiger was killed by another tiger and some people witnessed the attack.

On Thursday, staff at the park told Jimu News that at noon on the previous day, two adult male Siberian tigers fought in an area where four tigers were being raised.

Upon discovering the fight, park staff attempted to separate them by igniting firecrackers, but their efforts failed. One tiger was fatally injured and died despite efforts to save it.

According to the staff, the tiger that caused the fatality has been isolated, and further testing will be conducted on the deceased tiger.

The Jilin Siberian Tiger Park is located in the Jingyuetan national forest park in the southeastern part of Changchun. It is a wildlife park that mainly focuses on the free-ranging of Siberian tigers. It is also the most regulated wildlife rescue and breeding base in Jilin. The park is home to over 60 species of rare wildlife, including giant pandas, Siberian tigers and lions.
