The meat skewers drawing crowds at the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair are not made of meat at all — they are visual creations crafted entirely with Chinese pancakes.
Xu Haixia of Mengyin county in Linyi, Shandong province made a series of works with pancakes for the fair, including flowers as well as barbecue skewers and scallions.
Xu has dedicated 15 years to constructing eye-catching images with the foodstuff.
Last year, she replicated world-famous paintings using pancakes, including Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers, winning many fans.
Her pancakes come in several natural colors depending on the ingredient, including dragon fruit, red jujube, pumpkin, black sesame, celery and yellow peaches.
