Supervision ensures Party discipline

Teams to inspect SOEs, financial institutions, national sports body
A total of 15 disciplinary inspection teams from the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China have been assigned to positions on the ground as of Saturday, according to an official statement.
It is the first round of disciplinary inspections launched by the 20th CPC Central Committee, targeting 30 centrally administered State-owned enterprises, five financial agencies and the General Administration of Sport of China.
The inspected bodies held mobilization meetings, and heads of the central disciplinary inspection teams reiterated that inspection and supervision are an important part of the Party and State supervision system, and a strategic institutional arrangement for comprehensively and strictly governing the Party.
The inspection teams will adhere to the general principle of seeking progress while ensuring stability, fully implement the guidelines for the CPC Central Committee's inspection work and give top priority to the implementation of the guiding principles of the CPC's 20th National Congress.
The inspection will strengthen deterrence, pay more attention to addressing both symptoms and root causes, focus on power and responsibility, especially of the "top leaders" and leading bodies, and focus on prominent problems that the public has strongly complained about. The inspectors will also pay close attention to the rectification of problems and the application of inspection achievements.
The inspection leadership group of the CPC Central Committee held a deployment meeting and issued the list of inspection objectives in late March.
According to the arrangement of the inspection, the teams will carry out the routine disciplinary inspection of central SOEs for about two-and-a-half months. Inspectors will be dedicated to inspecting whether the Party organization adheres to the Party's overall leadership and fulfills the principal responsibility of exercising full and rigorous governance of the Party, in order to identify major contradictions and prominent problems that impede high-quality development.
The teams will conduct review inspections of financial enterprises for about two-and-a-half months, and the focus will be on examining their actions and achievements in implementing the rectification measures required by the last round of inspection.
Inspectors will urge the financial institutions to combine inspection and rectification with the study and implementation of the CPC Central Committee's requirements for financial reform, in order to help solve prominent problems in the financial sector.
The "impromptu and flexible "inspection, with an inspection period of about one-and-a-half months, will be carried out targeting the Leading Party Members Group of the General Administration of Sport to inspect the performance of the Party's leadership functions and responsibilities, and the implementation of major decisions and plans for building China into a leading sporting nation.
The inspection will also further identify and help tackle corruption and deep-seated institutional problems in sports to provide a strong guarantee for building China into a leading sporting nation.
The main leaders of the inspected bodies said that they would take the opportunity of accepting inspections and supervision to find out and resolve deviations in Party governance and performing their functions and responsibilities.
Telephone lines and mailboxes have been set up to receive tips on matters such as discipline violations by Party officials.
The routine inspection and review inspection will accept tips until June 20, while the flexible inspection will accept tips until May 31.
