As for ZHA's leaky structures, Chung shrugs nonchalantly. "Whenever there is a storm, the buckets come out because water begins dripping from the ceiling," she says. "Our laptops and phones fry if we don't contain the deluge.

"The ceiling gets repaired and then it leaks again during the next heavy rainstorm. That's why the building is usually under scaffolding and always looks dirty. I heard that the building is only cleaned once a year because it costs upward of HK$6 million ($770,000) to do so each time. As the facade is angled, standard gondola lifts don't work."
