On the official web page introducing the 153 candidates for the coming Legislative Council election, one can see the name, identity, as well as basic political views of them.

Wu Kin-wa, a 58-year-old property management consultant, said that he would vow to prevent high-salary government officials from taking positions in enterprises after retirement; Chan Chun-hung, a 44-year-old company executive, said that he hoped to implement a responsibility system for senior officials and would strive to restart the political reform.

There is even a 30-year-old enterprise executive called Wong Chun-long, whose campaign poster has only one slogan: "Do you want everyone to have the same view?"

A simple glimpse will find there are many more who hold all kinds of diverse political opinions, of which quite some are even against the position of the HKSAR government, more or less. Yet none of them met any difficulties in registering as a candidate. Their full information is on the official website, sponsored by the HKSAR government, together with those who support it.

Another example is when the credentials committee announced their results on Nov 19, they disqualified only one candidate surnamed Lou, because he served part time in a government agency.

That fact best explains the political inclusiveness of the coming LegCo election on Sunday, which is the first one after the improvement in electoral system on March 31. It also breaks the lie of certain Western politicians and media outlets that the election is one "without oppositions".

Next time before they try to attack Hong Kong democracy, they better have a look at the facts to avoid such low-level jokes.
