Gradually, the group lifted its income, some of which is used to preserve and develop Nuo Opera. With support from the local government, Xiao traveled to perform Nuo Opera in Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Australia. Foreign audiences were deeply impressed, he said.

"Nuo Opera is the carrier of Nuo culture. The traditional Sizhou Nuo culture belongs to China but also to the world," he said. "I want to pass it on to future generations to let its brilliant light shine."
