Shanghai launches Party education program

A month-long publicity and education program on the history of the Communist Party of China for young people was launched in Shanghai on Monday.

Consisting of a cartoon series, an interactive exhibition and a seminar, the program will commence on International Children's Day on June 1 and run till the anniversary of the founding of the Party on July 1.

The launch ceremony was held in the Longhua Martyrs Memorial and attended by officials, media representatives and students from Shanghai University.

Chang Zhengguo, vice minister of veterans affairs, said the stories of martyrs in the revolution should be better told to the country's young people to cultivate patriotism.

Li Liyang, a graduate student of Shanghai University, said he felt that the education of Party history has become more friendly for young people.

"More content has been shared on the internet through platforms for livestreaming and video-sharing. The content is also presented in a lively manner, and this makes it easier for us to relate to the past," said Li.

Yun Mei, the granddaughter of Yun Daiying, an early leader of the Party who was executed by the Kuomintang in 1931, told the story of her grandfather at the ceremony.

"Grandpa, we will never forget you. The country that you and countless forefathers died for has become stronger now, and young people have inherited your faith and been working hard for the country's even brighter future," she said.

The program was organized by the Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, Ministry of Education, Central Committee of the Communist Young League, Ministry of Veterans Affairs and CPC Central Party History and Literature Research Institute.
