BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping's remarks at the Climate Ambition Summit have injected confidence and wisdom into global climate governance, and demonstrated China's resolution to fight climate change with the international community, experts said.

When addressing the summit via video link on Saturday, Xi called on all parties to close ranks and make new advances in climate governance that features win-win cooperation, called for raising ambition and fostering a new architecture of climate governance where every party does its part, and urged all parties to boost confidence and pursue a new approach to climate governance that highlights green recovery.

Xi's remarks illustrate China's determination to transform itself into an eco-friendly green economy and advance global sustainable development, said Magdy Allam, a climate and environment expert.

The commitments announced by the Chinese president have also shown that "China seriously cares about climate change and will take true actions," said Allam, who is also the secretary-general of the Union of Arab Environment Experts affiliated with the Arab League.

Likewise, Leon Laulusa, executive vice president of the ESCP Business School, said it is important to note "the considerable efforts made by China in recent years to reduce the share of fossil fuels."

Cavince Adhere, an international relations researcher in Kenya, told Xinhua that Xi's proposals "set good ground" for a more inclusive response to global climate change.

Meanwhile, the implementation of his initiatives "will not only greatly improve the current world climate change situation, but also benefit other related fields and industries," said Sylwester Szafarz, former consul general of Poland in the Chinese city of Shanghai.
