Forest fire under control in China's border province

KUNMING - A forest fire that started on Wednesday afternoon has been brought under control in an area bordering Laos in Southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities said Thursday.
As of 7:00 pm Thursday, flames in the Yiwu township of Mengla county in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture had been brought under control after over 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and another 80 people joined the efforts.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The fire started in Laos and spread to a village and a nature reserve in Xishuangbanna, with the area stretching over 200 meters, according to the local government.
