At a press briefing held by the State Council inter-agency task force on 28 March, NHC spokesperson Mi Feng said that zero new locally transmitted cases had been reported by 20 provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps for more than 28 days, and by six provinces for over 14 days. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases worldwide has exceeded 500,000, according to the latest WHO update. It is therefore essential that governments at all levels rigorously enforce all containment measures to forestall both imported cases and a resurgence in local infections.
