Bataar, a doctor in Bayannur city, is working extra hard in the anti-virus campaign in his own way by delivering items for herdsmen who have to stay at home due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Working as head of a health center in Bayanchandmani town, a Mongolian residential area bordering the nation of Mongolia, Bataar has been volunteering to drive his own car, usually 300 kilometers a day, to help people with their shopping and medicinal needs.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, people have been urged to stay at home, making it more difficult for herdsmen to buy vegetables, especially the elderly.

"The aged as well as those suffering from chronic diseases are more easily infected, so they need more care and should eat more fresh vegetables to improve their immunity. Therefore we should also help solve their practical problems to effectively prevent the spread of the virus," the doctor explained.

Among susceptible demographic groups, Bataar also visits people door-to-door to check their health status and deliver disinfectants and surgical masks to prevent further outbreak.

"Although we are not working on the front line of the battle, we can do as much as possible to reduce infections," he said.
