The world's top piano brand, Steinway & Sons, opened a flagship store in Beijing's Shunyi district on Nov 6, aiming to gain increasing market shares in North China. Well-known Chinese pianist Li Yundi came to perform pieces by Chopin and Rachmaninoff at the opening ceremony.
The facility, covering 400 square meters, not only displays fine-designed pianos, but also boasts a music hall for artists, pianists and educators to hold concerts and master classes. It also has two practice rooms where music lovers can play the instrument.
Last April, the US company, founded in 1853, announced the opening of a new Asia Pacific headquarters at the Shanghai Pilot Trade Zone, which was another important move for the brand to expand and grow in China.
