Wings over Everest, a Chinese action-adventure film with A-list actress Zhang Jingchu and award-winning Japanese actor Koji Yakusho, is scheduled to be released later this year.

Set amid the snow of Mount Qomolangma, also known as Mount Everest in the West, the suspense story fictionalizes a plane crash on the highest peak in the world. A team is assigned for the rescue mission, members of which soon find their journey turning more dangerous than expected. The film was shot in China, Canada and Nepal.

The upcoming film is Yakusho's firs time working in a Chinese film. He depicts the role of "a responsible man and an adorable fighter".

Zhang, known for Peacock and Aftershock, says she was attracted by the script, and read it within a few hours.

Producer Lyu Jianmin said the film features intense action sequences as well as examines humanity in extreme situations.
