The 2019 Pinor China Sake Exhibition was held in Beijing on June 5, attracting more than 20 Japanese sake wineries, which brought with them over 150 products.

All the most popular sake flavors were presented, including junmai-shu, honjozo-shu, and ginjo-shu, while a number of wineries also brought Japanese white wine.

A sake master class was held during the exhibition, in which the Shoryakuji Temple abbot introduced the history and technique of making sake.

Shoryakuji used to be a huge temple with hundreds of Buddhist monks, a number of whom developed new methods of making high-quality sake.

Alongside the sake exhibition, the Sake Service Institute, a Japanese organization for sake sommelier certification, hosted a sake sommelier course from June 7-9 in Beijing.
