The story is based on gangster Cheung Tze-keung, who kidnapped Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing's son Victor Li Tzar-kuoi to extract a 1.038 billion yuan Hong Kong dollars ($132 million) ransom in 1996.
Wong Jing and Jason Kwan, the directors of the first film, both return to helm the sequel, features Hong Kong A-list stars Louis Koo and Tony Leung Ka-Fai as well as veteran Hong Kong actors Gordon Lam and Simon Yam.
