'Bumblebee' continues to lead Chinese box office

Paramount's Bumblebee has continued to lead the Chinese mainland box office, for the second straight week, China Film News said Tuesday.

The science fiction action film has raked in around 708 million yuan ($104.8 million) since hitting Chinese screens on Jan 4.

Second place went to Chinese action film The Big Shot, which has taken in 123 million yuan at the box office since its release on Jan 10.

Domestic comedy Kill Mobile came in third, earning more than 79 million yuan last week. It has made 592 million yuan since Dec 28, 2018.

Chinese fantasy animation White Snake took fourth place, generating more than 41 million yuan since hitting Chinese cinemas on Jan 11. Rounding out the top five was the DC Comics superhero film Aquaman, which has taken in nearly 1.98 billion yuan since its release on Dec 7.
