Date: Dec 29-30 - 7:30 pm
Venue: Shanghai City Theater
This is a performance of the score from the fantasy dance-drama Wild Zebra. It was created by Zhang Jigang, deputy director and choreographer of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. To gain immortality, the Black Bear queen needs a cloak made from zebra hides. To enable her beloved Wild Zebra to escape, Zebra Girl sacrifices her life. As the drama builds to a crescendo, the wild beasts howl in accompaniment. Wild Zebra was first staged at the closing ceremony of the Second Shanghai International Art Festival, which received high praise from the leaders of the ministry of culture, Shanghai government and municipal committee.
