New film Patrolman Baoyin is based on the true stories of a police hero in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.[Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

In the film, the patrolman leads a lonely sort of life where he resolves trifling conflicts among local herders, but his peaceful life is disturbed by a female outsider, who treks a long way to seek her father. When he is pushed by his mother to start an affair with the woman, the policeman gets a new mission to hunt a criminal who murders two tourists on the grassland.

The film is listed as one of the nine most recommended features to mark the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up by China Film Administration, the country’s top sector regulator.
