The 12th World Tai Chi Day, organized by the China Culture Center, was held at the Castille Square in Valetta, Malta, on April 28.

More than 50 tai chi enthusiasts from across the country displayed a sparkling tai chi demonstration, which attracted over a thousand spectators.

This year's tai chi demonstration, opened by the brilliant performance of Yang Jingyuan, a tai chi coach of Wang Zhanjun Tai Chi School from Wen county, Jiaozuo city, Henan province, featured tai chi fan, tai chi 49 postures and tai chi sword by the tai chi aficionados from both countries.

Their spirited performance turned the whole Castille Square into a tai chi arena. Many visitors were so captivated by the demonstration that they began imitating the performers' postures on the sidelines.

Initiated in 2007, the World Tai Chi Day has evolved to be a signature event in Malta. For the past 12 years, tai chi, as a graceful form of Chinese martial arts, has gained an increasing popularity in the country and has played a valuable role in deepening the cultural exchanges and cementing the friendly ties between the two countries.

Jiang Jiang, Chinese ambassador to Malta; Clifton Grima, Maltese parliamentary secretary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organizations, and Wang Yanjun, director of the China Culture Center in Malta, attended the event, along with many other Chinese and Maltese officials.
