Ancient Falangcai bowl to be auctioned in April for estimated $26 mln
A rare Pink-Ground Falangcai Bowl, which was believed to have been made during the period of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722 AD), is to be auctioned at the Sotheby's Hong Kong Chinese Works of Art Spring Sale Series.
The bowl, which hasn't been on the market for over 30 years, is expected to fetch up to $26 million.
Sotheby's held a media preview on Thursday. Nicolas Chow, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby's Asia, said "there is extraordinary quality and breadth in our offerings of Chinese art this season, with possibly the finest assemblage of Qing porcelain on offer in recent memory."
This year's sales will take place on April 3 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and will offer about 300 items with a total estimate of nearly $95 million.
