Premier Li expresses condolences over death of Fidel Castro

On Nov 26, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message of condolences to Raul Castro, president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, after the former Cuban leader Fidel Castro passed away at the age of 90.

Premier Li, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in his own name, expressed the deepest condolences over the death of Fidel Castro. The Premier also extended his sincerest sympathies to the Cuban government and people as well as to the Castro family.

Premier Li said in the message that Fidel Castro had devoted his life to the liberation and national development of Cuba, and as the founder, guardian and pusher of China-Cuba relations, his contribution to the bilateral relationship will always be remembered.

The Premier said the Chinese government and people cherish the friendship of the two countries, and attach great importance to the development of the bilateral relationship. China is willing to work with Cuba to inherit and carry on the traditional friendship between the two countries and promote bilateral ties in a sustainable way to better benefit the people of the two countries, he said.
