International students offered study advice
The China Chamber of Commerce in the UK has teamed up with Ukuni, a website that offers information to international students wanting to find out more about British universities, to host UK Higher Education and Primary and Secondary Education in the UK on Wednesday. The event will focus on explaining the procedural requirements demanded at each stage of entry or progression within the UK education system and compare private and state-funded education, as well as other aspects of UK education, such as ranking tables.
East Asia Network getting together
Academics and staff members at University College London who have an interest in East Asia are being invited to attend meetings of the East Asia Network. Members of the network meet regularly throughout the year to discuss current work in the region, funding and other opportunities, as well as proposals for UCL's future engagement. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday in Elvin Hall, Bedford Way, London. The session will be chaired by Katharine Carruthers, pro-vice-provost of the East Asia section within the university's Institute of Education.
Professor explaining legal system reforms
Stephanie Balme will present a talk on Wednesday about reforms made in recent decades to China's judicial system. Reforming the Judiciary in China (1978-2016) is being hosted by the Dickson Poon School of Law, which is part of King's College London. The event will be held in the East Wing of Somerset House on The Strand in London. Balme's talk will draw from the newly published book China, New Faces of Ordinary Justice: Between Facts& Law.
