Egypt's annual customs revenues down 8%

CAIRO - Egypt's customs revenues of the fiscal year 2010-2011 were 8 percent lower than those of the previous year, Finance Ministry said on Thursday.

The total revenues stood at 13.4 billion Egyptian pounds (about $2.248 billion), down 1.27 billion pounds (about $213 million) compared with the fiscal year 2009-2010, official figures showed.

According to official news agency MENA, Egypt's export value grew by 150 billion Egyptian pounds (about $25.16 billion) in the current fiscal year, or 12 percent over the previous fiscal year, while imports were up 8 percent from 330 billion pounds (about $55.36 billion) to 358 billion pounds (about $60.06 billion).
