12 killed, 23 injured in school fire in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: Twelve students were killed and 23 others injured in a big fire at a girls' school in central Tanzania on Saturday night, police sources confirmed to Xinhua on Sunday.

This was announced by Evarist Mangala, regional police commander of the central Iringa region in an interview by Xinhua on phone.

"The fire was currently controlled and we are still investigating the cause of the incident," Mangala said, adding that the condition of the 23 others injured was not serious.
