Sri Lankan Airlines is celebrating its 11th year in the Chinese market on June 15, offering preferential ticketing for Chinese customers.

Those who book air tickets on that day will enjoy a discount of 31 percent on the prices. The flights should be between June 16 and Dec 31, linking Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Kunming to other overseas destinations along the air routes that the company operates. Exceptions are on a few dates including the National Day holiday.

V. Ravindran, the airlines' country manager of China, said there is always a crew on board from China that can communicate in Chinese to offer better service. Chinese passengers can also watch the latest Chinese movies during their flights.

He said the peak season for the airlines in the Chinese market are Spring Festival holiday, summer vacations and National Day holiday. During short holidays such as the three-day Dragon Boat Festival, there is a slight increase because Chinese can ask for extra days of leave to extend their vocations.

Xinhua News Agency recently reported that Sri Lanka attracted about 200,000 Chinese tourists in 2015. More than 16,000 Chinese traveled to Sri Lanka in May, an increase of 31.5 percent over last May. China remains the country's second-biggest outbound travelers source market, after India.
