Zidane calls on Henry to play farewell match with France in Brazil friendly

PARIS - Zinedine Zidane has been among the voices calling on Thierry Henry to make final France appearance as it was announced Tuesday that the country's national team will host Brazil in March.

The international friendly slated on March 26 at Stade de France will be a rematch of the 1998 World Cup final where France beat Brazil 3-0 to lift their first trophy of the grand event.

Henry, having won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 alongside with Zidane, just released an official announcement Monday to confirm his departure from MLS side New York Red Bulls.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona legendary striker, who retired from international duty after the 2010 World Cup, said he has not yet made up his mind on his future despite his willing to stay in the game.

"For everything he has brought to French football, it would be a great moment for him," said Zidane. "And the opponents would bring him back some good memories."

"It would be a great pleasure to play with him if he is called up," Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann echoed.

Former coach Raymond Domenech disagreed, however, saying that " playing for the national team should not be a gift and Henry knows it."

Henry played 123 matches for France and scored 51 goals.
