Little referee 'sent off' performers at opening ceremony
After a Brazilian samba during the second part of the opening ceremony, a small boy, dressed as a referee, appeared and blew his whistle.
He then took out a red card and waved it high, ordering the dancers to leave the pitch, after which the performance became soccer-themed with a big ball in the center of the pitch.
Kaka takes to the pitch
Kaka was at the World Cup, but only as spectator.
The Brazilian former cover boy's appearance before the World Cup opener, hugging his teammates, won applause and hoorays from the crowd.
The former World Player of the Year and AC Milan midfielder, together with Ronaldinho, another former world player of the year, was ruled out from Brazil's squad due to injury and below par performances this season.
