Co-organized by the Shanghai municipal government and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the 13th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum was held on Nov 17, 2016 in Shanghai.
Government officials, experts and representatives from nearly 50 international organizations and countries and regions had in-depth discussion at the forum on the topic of “building respect for intellectual property stimulating innovation and creatively”.

Yang Xiong, mayor of Shanghai, said in his speech that in recent years Shanghai focused on the strategic goal of building itself into an intellectual property central city in the Asia-Pacific region, actively exploring intellectual property system innovation and constructing a legal environment, market circumstances and cultural atmosphere for intellectual property rights, which greatly inspired the city’s vitality. Over the past five years, the average annual growth rate of total patent applications for inventions in Shanghai exceeds 20 percent. By September of 2016, the number of patents per 10,000 people was more than 34.
