Lei Xinghui, vice-president of Tongji University; Lyu Guoqiang, WIPO consultant; Shan Xiaoguang, dean of SICIP; Li Jianchang, secretary of the CPC Committee of SICIP; Zhu Xuezhong, vice-dean of SICIP; Yu Xinmiao, vice-dean of SICIP; Jiang Nan, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of SICIP, and other faculty members attended the meeting.

Professor Lei delivered a welcome speech and expressed his sincere thanks to WIPO and WOC for their long-term support. He also briefed Chen on the measures that Tongji University has adopted to boost the development of the discipline of IP.

He expressed his hopes that SICIP, under the guidance of WOC, would work to achieve more in the areas of training highly-skilled IP professionals, academic research and social services.

Chen said that SICIP, as China’s only institute that has established a partnership with WIPO in delivering a master degree program, had earned a good reputation, following a year of hard work, with support from Shanghai municipal government and Tongji University.

He stated that the aim of WOC is to strengthen cooperation with relevant government departments and the academic community in China, organize promotional activities, encourage an awareness of intellectual property law, and promote WIPO international intellectual property services and products.

He stressed that SICIP has bright prospects thanks to its partnership with WIPO. In the future, the two sides will be able to offer more student exchanges and internships, as well as promote enrollment and cooperation in academic research projects. The two sides will be able to cooperate more deeply, broaden their field of cooperation, promote the rapid development of the college, and realize the purpose of establishing the college for the training of international highly-skilled professionals in the field of intellectual property. Through cooperation, it is hoped that they will jointly develop influential think tanks to influence international debates.

Shan said that SICIP would further work with the WIPO office in China to promote the vigorous development of the Tongji-WIPO master degree program.

WIPO is a global institute which aims to promote intellectual property policies, services, information and cooperation.
