Guangzhou sends freight train to Nepal

A freight train loaded with goods from Guangdong province, pulled out of the Dalang Railway Goods Yard in Guangzhou on Nov 30, embarking on its 54 hour journey to the city of Kathmandu in Nepal.

The train will travel 6,070 kilometers through Sichuan province, Chongqing municipality and Tibet autonomous region, until it reaches the Nepal capital. Its carriages are loaded with 19 million yuan's (2.75 million) worth of goods, including clothes, furniture, and home appliances.

The train not only provides a convenient trade channel between Guangzhou to South Asia, but also helps to facilitate economic and cultural exchanges between Guangdong and Tibet.

On the same day, officials and business representatives from Guangzhou and Nepal signed a deal to cooperation agreement to build an international logistics center which integrates the trade services of railways, highways, and airports.

The move is expected to help to upgrade the industrial structure and economic development in the region as well as deepen ties with Belt and Road countries and regions.

Guangzhou has also established a freight train route to Russia which has been operating since August.
