Two electric buses made by Jiangsu Alfa Bus Co, recently debuted at the Expo Milano 2015 in Italy, which will serve as designated shuttle vehicles to pick up guests and tourists to and from the Expo during the six-month event, the Wuxi Daily reported May 13.

The electric bus, featuring a low floor and three doors, is specially designed for the European market, said Zhang Yan, the manager of the overseas department at the company. With a full-integral structure, the bus is about one ton lighter than its competitors made by other manufacturers and consumes only 0.9 kilowatt hour per kilometer.

The bus has been certified by the EU in 2014 and the company is currently negotiating a potential order for more than 300 buses, Zhang added.

Jiangsu Alfa Bus Co, located in Jiangyin, has been focusing on the R&D of electric buses for more than 10 years. The company believes that the bus debut at the Expo will pave the way for its new energy products entering the European market.
