Jiang Du, 18, from Changzhou, Jiangsu province, started her one month volunteer service in a kindergarten in Dar Es Salaam, capital of Tanzania.

She embraced a total of 56 children in the kindergarten one by one in a makeshift classroom with only a few broken benches and a teacher's desk on her first day.

To improve conditions of the kindergarten, she wrote proposals online, made speeches in local universities and contacted local companies to raise money for children.

With 10,000 yuan ($1,613) collected, children were able to have milk and bread for school lunch, proper desks and chairs for study and new clothes and schoolbags to wear.

"The 31 days in Tanzania is by far my longest and most significant journey," Jiang Du spoke of her noble experience.
