Different things we can do to protect elderly

A new law, which came into effect on July 1, attracted national attention because it requires adults to pay regular visits to their parents, but it has more significant aspects, said an article in the Beijing News (excerpts below).

Adults who do not visit their parents regularly might be breaking the law.

But the new law has other requirements. One of them states clearly that it is the duty of the State to deal with an aging society. Another sets out the need for social and community services for the elderly.

There are many things we can all do to protect the rights of the elderly. The visitation aspect is but one of them.
