Digital Dandong, a geo-spatial framework project led by the Dandong Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, was approved by the Liaoning Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation on Aug 15.

Dandong was listed in the Digital City project by the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation in June 2012. Based on the current geo-spatial data of Dandong, the Digital Dandong project aims to build a complete geographic information system utilizing modern information technologies such as remote sensing, aerial photography, databases and computer networks.

Digital Dandong will provide online geoinformation services for government and industries of various levels. It will also offer free location and navigation services to the public.
