The dry fruit branch of the Chinese Society for Horticultural Science awarded Fengcheng the title of "China's first city of Dandong chestnut".

As the main producing area of Dandong chestnuts, Fengcheng has seen a rapid development in its chestnut industry in recent years. The planting scale, output and output value of Dandong chestnuts rank the top of all counties in China.
