The Second International Manchu Pharmacy Forum 2012, themed "Develop Manchu traditional medicine and promote Manchu pharmaceutical industry", was held in Dandong, Liaoning province. Dai Yulin, secretary of the Party committee of Liaoning province, and other leaders attended this forum.

Dai congratulated the opening of this forum and welcomed the experts and scholars visiting from China and abroad. He said, as one of the birth places of the Manchu ethnic group, Dandong is now one of the biggest areas inhabited by the ethnic group with one third of its population being Manchu.

The rich pharmaceutical culture in Dandong has laid a solid foundation for the development of the Manchu pharmaceutical industry. With support for this industry, several Manchu medicines have advanced into mass production. This forum will establish a wide platform for experts, scholars, and enterprises to carry out studies and discussions. They can express ideas on the industrialization of Manchu medicines and on the revitalization of Manchu medicine brands.

Xu chunguang, vice-mayor of Dandong city, presided over the opening ceremony of the forum. The "Manchu medicine production base" based on the Liaoning Manchu Medicine Research Center and the Dandong Pharmaceutical Group was officially set up during the opening ceremony. Medicine experts from Japan, South Korea, Germany and Bangladesh participated in the forum and discussed opportunities for collaboration, Manchu heritage and the development of the industry.

The city plans to build Dandong into the biggest Manchu medicine production base in the next ten years, with its revenue reaching 20 billion yuan ($3.15 billion).
