Dandong's state forest farms plan to plant 525.33 hectares of forest this Spring, according to the municipal forest administration on March 19. The land, fund and nursery stock are now available. The city is well prepared for the forest planting to be launched soon.

In 2012, the city hopes to plant 1.47 million saplings, 360,000 of which will be larch, covering an area of 99.73 hectares. Korean pine saplings will be planted in the amount of 940,000, covering 361.93 hectares and 170,000 other varieties will cover 63.67 hectares.

Dandong emphasizes the afforestation of state farms. The forest farm area has increased to the current amount of 49,533.33 hectares from the 41,133.33 hectares it was in the early 1990s. The increased area equals to two medium-sized forest farms and lays a solid foundation for resource development.

Forest land planning and tree seedlings have been prepared and the city is just waiting for the appropriate time to start planting.
