Dandong plans to plant several gingko forests in their urban area in 2012. It will become the biggest spot for urban greening this year, according to the Dandong Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-rural Development.

The gingko forests will be planted in the empty land around the Dandong expressway exit, Yingbin Mountain, the Pearl Park, Yanjiang Square and both ends of the third line flyover. As many as over five thousand 15 year-old gingko trees are expected to be planted. With an average diameter at breast height (DBH) of 8 to 10 centimeters, the largest gingko forest will contain more than 1,000 gingko trees.

The best time for planting trees is from the end of March to early April in the city. As the climate becomes warmer, urban greening will be in full swing.
