Fifteen tasks to improve the livelihood of Dandong people

In 2012, the Dandong municipal government will take actions to improve public well being. The following fifteen tasks have been put forth:

1. To find companies that are willing to aid 135 poverty-stricken villages and help increase incomes of 800 thousand farmers who live under or at the poverty line.

2. Set up a large wholesale vegetable market in the outskirt to ensure vegetable supply.

3. Set up a quality monitoring center for vegetables and aquatic products in 15 super markets, equipping them with instruments to guarantee food safety for customers.

4. Start the construction of Jinshan Sewage Plant.

5. Build 5,820 affordable houses for families with financial difficulties.

6. Renovate gas facilities, including 10,000 old gas meters and 10,000 eroded gas pipes for households.

7. Block 4,000 garbage collecting channels to create a better environment for more than 300,000 residents.

8. Implement projects to replace pit toilets with water closets in urban areas.

9. Renovate 66 streets and alleys.

10. Install new traffic lights in 23 crossways and add 192 electronic traffic monitors.

11. Install 300 high-definition video probes to enhance public security monitoring.

12. Put 100 clean energy buses into use for a convenient commuting in the new district.

13. Establish more than 20 public kindergarten classes that are above or at township level.

14. Start the expansion project of the Dandong Center Hospital.

15. Broadcast sign language television programs for people with disabilities.
