A "Five-Starred Red Flags Fly in Dandong" activity was held in Dandong to celebrate the National Day on Oct 1. CCTV News and Liaoning News produced by the Liaoning TV Station covered the event.

About 2,000 national flags were flying on government departments buildings, enterprises, schools, airports, railway stations, docks, scenic spots and stores along the city's streets.

The municipal traffic management bureau also took part in the activity. Dandong Public Transport Corporation bought 1,000 national flag stickers and pasted them on windows of the company's 484 buses.

Many national flags are still flying from residential windows even after celebration event finished.

"The flying red national flag makes me proud of our country and my hometown," said Li Feng, a Dandong local.

A native who works in Beijing said that it has been 6 years since he left Dandong. His hometown has gone through great changes, and he is very excited at the sight of numerous flying flags in the city.
