Niu Hanben, academician of Engineering Academy of China, specializing in research of low-light-level (LLL) night vision technology, super-fast image converter tube diagnostics and biomedical imaging technology. With more than 14 national awards, Doctor Niu has successfully developed the nation's first high-speed electrostatic focusing converter tube, which contributed a lot to China's national defense construction and high-tech development.

On Aug. 6th, 2011, Niu attended the Ninth National Conference for Information Access and Processing held in Dandong, and talked with Dangdong Daily. “This is my first trip to Dandong but the city is actually not strange to me, because in Dandong the first X-ray detector of new China was born in 1965” said Niu.

According to Niu, the great potential and rapid development of Intellectual Instruments Industry in Dandong, and the progressive plans of industry development made by the government of Dandong will make the city become the “city of Intellectual Instruments”. However there are still some gaps compared with foreign high-end products, which will affect the long-term development.

During the interview, Niu praised the high-quality personnel and newly established post-doctoral workstations of some companies, he said: “brain transference is the key factor in development. I can introduce my fellow students to work here since there are post-doctoral mobile stations.”
