Dai Yulin, Dandong Party municipal committee secretary, proposed to cultivate the Three-Gulf areas in the old and new urban quarters into bright spots in a work report delivered on behalf of the 10th municipal party committee June 22.

The Three-Gulf areas refer to the Pearl Gulf, Emerald Gulf and Guomen Gulf. Constructing the Three-Gulf areas means improving urban and rural environments, facilitating management upgrading, realizing the objectives of rational city layout, perfecting functions, stressing sound ecology and efficient management.

In the overall plan, the Pearl Gulf area developed on Mashi Island and Jiulian town will construct an international cultural community focusing on culture, education, professional training and sports tourism. The Emerald Gulf area will construct a 22-square-kilometer zone connecting the old and new towns, which is to become a high-end and high-grade modern service industrial base and residential quarter. Guomen Gulf area will emphasize the modern and international metropolis feature and turn into a new administrative port and sports culture center of the city.

At the same time, the city will construct two new areas in the two port zones. It will build up a new seaside town near Dadong port and the wetlands. It will construct the Dagushan economic zone near Haiyanghong port and Dayanghe area into a major economic base of medium city size in the province. It will stress developing a garden-like region in Jinshan and Wulongbei in the north, featuring mountains, rivers and fountains.
