Fenghuang Mountain is one of the arteries of the greater Changbai Mountains and covers an area of 216.9 sq km. Zanyun is its highest peak, at 836.4 m above sea level.

It was given its name by the Taizong emperor of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). In January 1994, it was approved by China’s State Council as a major national scenic spot.

Fenghuang has both unique natural landscape and artificial scenery. It is grand, difficult to access, and is deeply quiet, and unusually beautiful. And it is exceptionally gifted, with an advantageous position near Dandong, China’s largest border city.

It is surrounded by cities such as Shenyang, Dalian, Anshan, Fushun, Benxi and Yingkou, as well as scenic spots such as Qingshangou, the Yalu River, Dagushan, Yulong Lake, Pushi River, and the Dongtang Shengquan Holiday Village in Fengcheng.

Also, Fenghuang Mountain can be easily reached by the Shenyang-Dandong Railway and Shenyang-Dandong Expressway. In addition, Dandong Airport and Dandong Port are close at hand, giving tourists a convenient choice of approaches.

On April 28 of the lunar calendar year, the local people hold a four-day Yaowang Temple Fair on the mountain, an exceptionally grand occasion.
