The First People's Hospital of Taicang, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, was recently upgraded to a grade-two hospital, the second highest level in China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals, local media reported on Feb 26.

Founded in 1935, the Taicang hospital is the only one in the city capable of receiving foreign patients.

Offering more convenient services to its patients is the ultimate goal of the hospital and in recent years, it has introduced self-service registration machines and online payment to improve its efficiency in outpatient service.

Since 2015, the hospital has undertaken three provincial projects and 32 municipal projects.

A spokesman for the First People's Hospital of Taicang said that they will introduce more advanced technologies in the future to better serve Taicang residents.
