Suzhou university to open branch campus in Taicang

Suzhou-based Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is to set up a branch campus in Taicang, Jiangsu province, the XJTLU Entrepreneur College Taicang Campus, whose launch ceremony was held on Aug 2.

XJTLU is a university that was jointly established by Xi'an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool, from the United Kingdom, in 2006.

The XJTLU Entrepreneur College is being established to explore the talent demands and the new education models in the era of artificial intelligence, and to explore how universities may be composed in the future. It is also hoped that its location in Taicang will be advantageous for the area’s industrial transformation and upgrading.

The college will first set up six schools along with six majors by cooperating with well-known domestic and overseas companies and taking into account Taicang's industrial advantages and its development needs of the strategic emerging industries.

Additionally, it will also establish a supporting platform in collaboration with Siemens, Amazon, and Hong Kong Management Association for school study, entrepreneurship and innovation, research and development, and intellectual property certification.

The six schools and six majors to be set up are as follows:

1. The School of Intelligent Manufacturing, along with the intelligent manufacturing engineering major, will be co-established by XJTLU and Haier Group, a Chinese collective multinational consumer electronics and home appliances company headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong province.

2. The School of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing, along with the data science and big data technology major, will be established by cooperating with China's leading computing technology firm, Dawning Information Industry Co Ltd, also known as Sugon.

3. The School of Intelligent Robots, along with the robot engineering major, will be set up in collaboration with Siasun Robot and Automation Co Ltd.

4. The School of Internet of Things, along with the Internet of Things engineering major, will be jointly founded by XJTLU and Eolane China, a subsidiary of Eolane Group, a leading European EMS& ODM one-stop solution provider.

5. The School of Industrial Finance, along with the supply chain management major, will be co-established by Shanghai Qiyuan Technology Co Ltd, also known as AMT, a Chinese leading organization providing management and IT consulting services.

6. The School of Cultural Science and Technology, along with the art and technology major, will be set up in collaboration with China Cultural Media Group Co Ltd and Base FX, Asia's largest post-production company.
