The Science and Education New Town in Taicang, in East China's Jiangsu province held a special activity during the recent 2016 Venture Week for International Elites in Suzhou, to attract global investment, Taicang Daily reported.

The first roadshow project introduced was an intelligent optical fiber pre-warning systems, developed by Taicang-based Suzhou Brighter Information Technology Co, an enterprise with a solid foundation and technical strength.

Currently the optical fiber products have been applied to underground pipeline networks in cities such as Shanghai and Tianjin, and are expected to bring in sales revenue exceeding 30 million yuan ($4.5 million) this year.

RobinWatch, a startup by a post-80s team, showcased their Bluetooth peripheral devices. Several funding organizations said that they are devoting attention to startups which have the potential to grow rapidly.

Before the roadshow, guests visited Taicang University Science and Technology Park, the main industry carrier in the Science and Education New Town, to investigate the necessary functions of a college scientific park. The university park acts as an incubator for high-tech enterprises and scientific innovation and combines production and research, as well as training.

In the first five months of this year, the Science and Education New Town introduced 73 domestic funded projects. New registered capital reached 408 million yuan, rising 142.69 percent from the previous year.
