A Sino-Germen kindergarten will open in Taicang's new district in Jiangsu province this year, according to Taicang Daily.

A delegation from the Consulate General of Germany in Shanghai visited the project at Rhine City Square - a residential community at the center of the city- shortly before the New Year.

The kindergarten will be renovated from an existing building and will accommodate a 6,000 square meter space. It will house 140 students, seven classes in three grades and a day care center.

The kindergarten is scheduled to open for parents to visit in May and will officially launch in September.

Approximately 230 German-invested enterprises operate in Taicang. Haering Precision (Taicang) Co and Kern-Liebers' Taicang plant proposed the project to facilitate the growing German number of expatriate families.

German early education theories will be introduced in the teaching practice to foster independence and hands-on abilities in children.

The kindergarten will predominantly serve the German expat population in Taicang but will also welcome Chinese families keen to learn German and take part in other educational courses provided at the facility.
