Suzhou Tram Line 2 is now under construction and is expected to open to traffic in the first half of 2017, officials said.

The 18-kilometer tram line goes from east to west and will pass across Tram Line 1 and Metro Line 3, making it convenient for commuters to transfer.

Tram Line 2 will have about 7 kilometers of elevated rails and two underpasses to avoid traffic on the ground. The whole route will have only 10 red lights, allowing trams to travel at a fairly high speed.

In addition, Tram Line 1 has run safely for half a year since Oct 26, 2014. It gradually welcomes more citizens and becomes an important part of the urban public transportation.
