The big boy becomes Mr Right
Lu has always had a preference for tall men. Three years ago, when a friend introduced her to 1.85-meter-tall basketball enthusiast Yang Yixiu, Lu happily put on her high heels for the date. The couple clicked.
Yang calls the 23-centimeter height difference "adorable," and jokingly pats Lu on the head when they walk together.
Lu's parents initially thought Yang was immature, compared to her brother, but Yang made efforts to make up for the impression.
"Every time we cross the street, he holds my hand and says, 'Come on, don't get lost, my little girl.' And when we go traveling, I just need to take care of the camera and leave all the luggage to him,” she says.
Yang, 27, arranged a surprising proposal last month. He asked Lu to watch him and his buddies playing basketball as usual, and suddenly, he appeared with a bunch of roses and a diamond ring. "I didn't believe it was happening to me. He's totally non-romantic. He bought me one red rose after I begged over and over again on Valentine's Day," Lu says.
"I'm wearing my favorite basketball clothes and shoes, together with my best friends, to propose to you, my favorite person on this planet," Yang said as he proposed. She was only too happy to accept.
They registered for marriage after two weeks and will have their wedding on Nov 15.
