The Dementia Quality Care Online Training Program, a series of courses designed by three Chinese institutes to teach how to care for people living with dementia, recently received an international award for its work in public education.

The worldwide federation of Alzheimer associations, Alzheimer’s Disease International, announced in May that the program had won a MetLife Foundation Awards category for Best Dementia Care Education Project.

The program was initiated by the China Alzheimer’s Project, a leading Chinese nonprofit health organization in dementia care and support. The organization designed the program and cooperated with Alzheimer’s Disease Chinese and the Peking University Institute of Mental Health to control the quality of the courses.

The goal of the program is to provide quality online training courses to promote personalized dementia care, to benefit both professionals and informal caregivers and, ultimately, to improve the life quality of people living with dementia.

The online courses are available on the www.921abc.com website, and users who complete all courses and pass an online exam can receive a certificate issued by Alzheimer’s Disease Chinese, the Peking University Institute of Mental Health and the China Alzheimer’s Project.
